El Cotillo

We came to El Cotillo on Saturday evening to listen to some music on the second day of the free music festival Fuerteventura en Música 2012.
To be perfectly honest, for me it was mostly a pretext to have an evening on the west side of the island and to photograph some evening scenes. Kirill, who was there on the first night, brought back some pictures of some polygonal patterns visible on the stony part of the shore in low tide, less spectacular than ones at Giant's Causeway, but present.
There is indeed a pattern, more obvious in some places, less in others, and where the surface is more eroded, lines of lighter-colored stones are visible between the polygons.

Some of the stones are eroded into funny shapes, resembling Gyromitra (I guess it follows that english version of wikipedia article doesn't have a common name for those fungi)

As to the event itself, I would have probably enjoyed it more if we booked a hotel or something for the night. There was quite a lot of standing around involved, and nowhere very much to go. A few people resolved this problem by camping (for free) in about hundred meters distance from the stage. Normally camping is forbidden on La Concha beach, but I guess nobody enforces it, especially not on those two nights. It is worth noting though that there are no camping facilities there, and even the beach showers and permanent toilets were fenced off. Not sure if that was because they were broken, or because somebody very wise wanted to encourage people to stay in hotels in this peculiar way.
